You know what I say about Wednesday: It’s a great day to make something fun to celebrate the middle of the week! These vegan chocolate tahini maple balls are fun yet quite healthy. They’re a great thing to have on hand for whenever you are craving something sweet and satisfying.
the details
Calcium- and iron-rich tahini replaces the more traditional peanut butter in these morsels, which is mixed with a little bit of maple syrup, sea salt, vanilla, and oat flour. After being rolled into balls, they are dipped in a mixture of melted dark chocolate and coconut oil before being placed on a parchment-lined plate and chilled until firm.
ingredients you’ll need
For these chocolate tahini maple balls, you’ll need tahini, maple syrup, oat flour, sea salt, vanilla, dark or semisweet chocolate chips, and coconut oil.
how to make chocolate tahini maple balls
These are incredibly easy! In a medium bowl, combine the tahini, maple syrup, oat flour, salt, and vanilla. Stir to combine. It will seem runny at first, but it will thicken up quickly.
In a small saucepan, melt together the chocolate chips and coconut oil over low heat, whisking occasionally.
Line a plate with parchment paper. Roll the tahini mixture into 8-10 balls, depending on desired size. Take a tahini ball on a spoon and dip it in the melted chocolate and roll it around a few times until evenly coated. Transfer onto the parchment paper-lined plate. Repeat with the remaining balls. Place in the refrigerator for one hour, then remove from the plate and transfer into an airtight container. Store in the fridge or freezer.
a few final thoughts
You can double the recipe if you’d like a bigger batch. This recipe also works with any other nut or seed butter; almond, cashew, and hazelnut are all divine!
You can also use honey in place of the maple syrup if you eat it.
Chop up one or two of these and enjoy it as a topping on hot or cold overnight oats, along with berries and a sprinkle of hemp. Divine!
