Chai spices intermingle with healthy white chocolate in this vegan chai-spiced white hot chocolate that you will find yourself enjoying again and again.

A little thing to know about me: two of my favourite things in the world are chai and chocolate. I’d been intending to develop a white hot chocolate recipe for awhile, and the timing just felt right to infuse it with chai spices. And that is how the chai-spiced white hot chocolate was born!

This isn’t your typical white hot chocolate: Instead of using store-bought white chocolate (which is really hard to find vegan, fair trade, and organic versions of), I used cacao butter, cashew butter, and maple syrup. These three ingredients come together to pull off a flavour that is quite similar to white chocolate! Combine this with cozy chai spice, and we’ve got a drink that is nothing short of pure bliss!

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED

  • Unsweetened non-dairy milk, cacao butter, cashew butter, maple syrup, chai spice (homemade or store-bought), and vanilla extract. The brand of cacao butter that I use is Organic Traditions. This is not sponsored at all- just want to share that in case any of you are wondering where to find cacao butter!

how to make this hot chocolate

  1. Combine all of the ingredients together in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking often. Once warm to your liking, pour into an upright blender and blend for 15 seconds. Blending makes the hot chocolate wonderfully frothy.
  2. Pour into your favourite mug and garnish with coconut whipped cream, if you really want to take it over the top. I’ve also been known to enjoy hot chocolate topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You do you. 😉

This chai white hot chocolate would be the perfect drink to enjoy as you prepare Christmas gifts or goodies at the last minute, or as you settle in with a plate of cookies to watch a Christmas movie. I hope you love it! If you make it, let me know how you enjoyed it by leaving a comment and rating below the post. And if you share a photo to Instagram, tag @upbeet.kitchen and #upbeetkitchen. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. I’ll be back on the 26th or 27th with a new recipe.
