This vegan Snickers protein smoothie puts those vegan Snickers energy balls to good use! This smoothie is packed with protein and is ultra energizing thanks to the combination of maca, cacao, and peanut butter. The cherry on top, so to speak, is a crumbled Snickers energy ball!

You didn’t think I would just leave you with those Snickers energy balls, did you? Who do you think I am?!

Kidding aside, I would like for you to meet my latest obsession, the vegan Snickers protein smoothie. I thought about calling it a milkshake, given how indulgent it tastes, but I didn’t want to dissuade anyone from enjoying it for breakfast. So, protein smoothie it is!

The smoothie itself is a peanut butter, cacao, and maca smoothie that’s boosted with chocolate protein powder and flax and topped with a crumbled Snickers energy ball. Just for kicks, I drizzled a tablespoon of my vegan hot fudge sauce on the inside of the glass before pouring the smoothie in, and then added more on top. This is totally optional, but highly recommended. It’s still way healthier than eating a real Snickers bar!

health benefits of drinking this vegan snickers protein smoothie:

This smoothie is brimming with nutrients:

    • Bananas deliver potassium, fibre, and vitamin B6, a B vitamin that promotes relaxation and healthy hormones.
    • Peanut butter contains protein and healthy fat.
    • Flax is full of fibre and omega 3 essential fatty acids.
    • Cacao powder is an excellent source of magnesium, a mineral that relaxes muscles and the nervous system.
    • Maca is an adaptogen that aids in adapting to physical and mental stress.
    • Protein powder builds muscle, of course. Adequate protein intake also enhances immune system function and overall health. Just be sure to select an organic, fermented/sprouted protein powder to avoid consuming pesticides and to improve digestion.
    • And don’t forget about that Snickers energy ball! It’s packed with fibre, protein, and healthy fat.

So, yes. You have my permission to enjoy this for breakfast. I certainly have.

    Ingredients

    Scale

    Smoothie:

    • Scant 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk

    • 1 tbsp organic peanut butter
    • 1 tbsp ground flax
    • ½ tbsp cacao powder or cocoa powder
    • 2 tsp maca powder (optional- leave out if you don’t have it; it just adds a caramel flavour and a boost of nutrition)
    • 1 scoop organic chocolate flavoured protein powder (if you don’t have chocolate, use vanilla flavoured protein and increase the cacao powder to 1 tbsp)

    For serving:

    • 1–2 tablespoon vegan hot fudge sauce (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Place the smoothie ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
