First of all, if you are not from Canada, you are likely scratching your head at the title of this post. Allow me to explain. The Grey Cup is the Canadian Football League’s version of the Super Bowl. It is the championship game that concludes the football season. Say what you will about the Canadian Football League: Regardless of your opinion on the league itself or the sport of football in general, I think we can all agree that a football game is a great excuse to enjoy some down-home vegan comfort food. Whether you’re hosting a Grey Cup party or you are simply looking for some vegan comfort food recipes, I’ve got you covered. Below you will find a selection of appetizer, entree, salad, and dessert recipes that are sure to please vegans and omnivores alike. 🙂 A few of the recipes are my own, while others come from talented food bloggers. Enjoy!
appetizers
Start things off with a bang and throw down a plate of Becky’s Fully Loaded Vegan Nachos!
If elegance is your thing, perhaps you’ll feel more of a pull towards this outstanding vegan brie!
Salads
Squash and figs are still in season, so might I suggest my Roasted Fig, Delicata Squash, and Kale Salad? It has flavours and textures everyone will love: creamy, buttery roasted squash, sweet and jammy roasted figs, peppery red onion, and crunchy walnuts. Plus greens for all the health nuts. 😉
You can’t go wrong with a mayo dressing-slathered slaw, and this broccoli slaw with avocado mayo looks absolutely mouthwatering!
Entrees
Everyone loves chili, and my High-Protein Tempeh Chili gets high praise from the meat eaters in my life.
If you aren’t drooling at the mere sight of Verna’s vegan burritos, I think we’ve got a problem. 😉
Desserts
I’ve been craving s’mores cake recently, and until I create my own recipe, these vegan s’mores cupcakes look delightful.
Until recently, I believed that everybody loved s’mores. But then I met somebody who doesn’t. So if you are of the latter camp, you might enjoy this vegan brownie cheesecake instead!

This are really good suggestions and I plan on making a couple for the big party at my place. Since I live in Thunder Bay, half of our gathering is cheering for Winnipeg, the other half for Hamilton!

Thank you, Anne! Oh that’s too funny.
